Halloween.

Briony dressed up as Bill S Preston Esquire from Bill and Ted today. Her friend that was suppose to be Ted backed out, but that didn't stop her.

Maria made cookies for us at work. I ate a zombie!

Snow.

It snowed overnight, and for the first time since I moved here, it was foggy. Shortly after I got to work, though, the sun came out and it was beautiful!

The Day Of The Doctor!

The Day Of The Doctor is coming. On Monday, November 25th, 2013, the BBC Special celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who is coming to 300 cinemas in the US. I was sure that the closest one would be hours away from little Laramie, Wyoming, so I did not hold my breathe as I clicked the link. Much to my surprise, the ONLY cinema in Wyoming that is playing The Day Of The Doctor is here, in Laramie! I may not have gotten to see The World's End in theatres, but I get to see this event in one, so I am very pleased.

I've got my tickets ordered!

Free OPI!

I love free things! I especially love forgetting that I ordered a free thing and then it appears in the mail, like the nail polish I got in the mail tonight. It's so pretty!

Geocaching Success! And Failure...

I went geocaching today. I found four of the 6 I went looking for originally. Right as I got back in my car to come home, I got an email alert for a new cache that had just been published. I was familiar with the area, so headed straight there. It was about a 20 minute hike to the location, and when I got there, I just could not find anything! I searched for about 40 minutes, but had to leave to get home for a prior engagement. I am more than a little disappointed that I did not get another FTF. And now I've got a terrible cough from being out in the wind for the last four hours.

Ghost Tours Of Laramie.

I had a fun time on the Ghost Tour tonight. I learned a little about Laramie history, and will definitely have to go back in the daylight (we went on the 9pm tour), to see what the prison actually looks like, as it was only lit with candles, and get more history, not just the creepy scary Halloween appropriate history. I've never been through a haunted house before, but it was definitely nice to have someone's hand to hold during this tour.

Candy Corn Fudge.

It's easy to make, it tastes yummy (so say Briony and Cale, I have yet to try it), and it's so pretty.

Albany County Fair.

So I may never have gotten that Blue Ribbon that I won at the Albany County Fair this summer for my Irish Soda Bread, but I just got this in the mail! I'm going to be a rich woman now!

You might get tired of me posting my views, but I won't.

A Good Day.

Today was a good day. A great day, even.

First, I got my new day planner in the mail at work. Even the packaging was awesome.

It's a montage to our summer together.

Then I got home and while Briony fixed dinner, I got to take a bubble bath and watch Hawaii 5-0 while drinking a margarita. I got out to this tasty dinner. The washing up had already been done, too.
After my hair dried, Briony straightened it for me. Then I got to write in all my important dates and already planned events into my planner. I'm a dork, but it's okay!

Donkey Ball 2013.

Dr. Van Pelt volunteered to play Donkey Ball on Saturday night to help a 4-H group raise money. I went and it was the funniest, funnest thing I've seen in a looong time!

Crockpot Success.

I am not a fan of the crock pot. I have had several not so successful experiences in the past, but have seen lots of recipes on Pinterest that involve crock pots, so I went out and bought one. My first attempt at crock pot cooking turned out to be a waste of money. The pork chops were disgusting and I tossed the entire meal in the dumpster. I was pondering returning it to the store, when I decided I should at least try one more meal. That is what I did tonight. I had already purchased the ingredients, so I put them all together this morning and at dinner tonight we had a delicious Beef and Broccoli. I didn't even follow the directions exactly, and it still turned out great.

I got the recipe HERE if you'd like to try it. I highly recommend it, and will definitely be trying it again in the future. Although it is an Asian dish, I did not serve it on rice, but with a hefty side of mashed potatoes, and it went great I though. I am already looking forward to my left overs tomorrow.

I am now looking forward to trying more things, so we'll see if this crock pot thing works out for me in the end.

Good-Bye My Dear, Sweet Mervin.

Today several things happened. I went geocaching for the first time in nearly two months. I went to a Donkey Ball game (photos and write up to follow later), and I learned that a dear man, who I have known my whole life, passed away.

Mervin was a man that I never could remember how I was related to, but he was always there. It turns out he was married to my great great grandmother's brother's daughter (hopefully I got that right). Whenever I saw him, at a gathering or dining at the same restaurant, he always enveloped me in the biggest hug. He gave the best hugs ever. My friend Penny knew him as well, she is the one that gave me the news, and we both agreed we will miss those hugs. It is such a small thing, a hug, but sometimes it is just the thing you need, even when you don't know that you need it. Mervin's hugs made everything right in the world.

Though I am in Wyoming now, and likely would not have gotten another hug from him for a long long time, knowing now that I will not ever get one of those hugs again, fills my heart with sadness. He was a good man. A man I will never forget, because of his hugs and because he was a great person.

Good-Bye Mervin. You will be missed.

Ag Appreciation Banquet.

Tonight several of us went to the Ag Appreciation Banquet. The food was delicious, and there was a silent auction. It was the first time I'd ever participated, and I got a bit competitive, but I won my auction!

I got these beautiful earrings and a bottle of bling water. I've never heard of it, but it will look pretty sitting on my dresser, and really I just wanted to earrings. They were donated by Mountain Valley Bridal.

Fifth Family Anniversary.

Today is the five year anniversary of meeting the two amazing people that have enriched my life more than I could ever have imagined possible.

I won't say that that first meeting wasn't a little awkward, or that we became a family overnight, but I think that what we have become is a pretty once in a lifetime phenomenon.

Tonight we had a family dinner, and though it wasn't what I had planned all week, it was still perfect because we were together, enjoying each others company. What more can a girl ask for?

I will always treasure the time I get to spend with these two amazing people. They made me a better person just by knowing them, and I cherish the day they decided to call me Mom. Most mom's are called Mom because they give birth. I was given the gift by Briony and Cale, by their own choosing, and it is an amazing gift, indeed.

Triple Goddesses.

I bought this at a Celtic Festival I went to years ago with Heather and Caitlin, but never had a wall that it would work on. I am happy to say that it has finally found a use as a focal point above my bed now. I love the purple color, it really adds something to the beige coloring of the walls and carpet.

31.

I've been waiting and waiting and waiting to place and order and then finally to get my order, and it finally came today. I am super excited about my Retro Metro Weekender bag. It is super roomy so I can use it for long weekends or for a day trip with snacks and geocaching supplies. I also got an organizer bag that I had monogramed with the VT logo and HOKIES! The embroidery didn't come in orange, thought :(

Home Alone.

Tonight I've got the flat to myself. I'm celebrating with chicken korma, naan and a new beer, Newcastle Werewolf. It's so tasty!

Tim Collins, Artist.

I have already written about the great dogs that I pet sat for a few weeks ago. While I was staying at their house, I looked through some of the paintings that Tim had for sale. He is a retired art teacher, and amazing artist, in my opinion. I requested two of his paintings and I am looking forward to getting them framed and hung up, but for now, they are still brightening up my apartment.

This one attracted my attention because of the pink of the Snowies, which we often see at sunrise, especially when there is snow on the mountains. Laramie River is flowing in the foreground.

I love this one because I swear Briony and I have been there! Everyone who's seen this agrees it is Lake Marie and we ended a great day of geocaching there.

You can read about Tim here and here.

Isn't she the cutest little creature?!
