The girls from work went out to dinner and drinks tonight to celebrate Leigh's leaving to go to CSU for Vet School. Good luck and have fun Leigh!

Rascal Flatts!

Half day at work followed by lunch with Cale. A short drive to Cheyenne and a behind the chutes tour at the rodeo. The Band Perry and Rascal Flatts followed by a ride on an actual ferris wheel. Yeah, a good day!

More photos to come.

Homebody.

Today was a good day. I cleaned the car, which has so gross due to the dust out here, which just covers everything! I got a crazy amount of stuff out of my glove box.

Then I did a little sunning on the deck. I can totally rock the animal print. If course, when I do it, it's because we are making fun of the trend out here, that somehow zebra, pink, and bedazzling equals cowgirl...

Then I fixed one of our favorites, sweet and sour chicken.

Cheyenne Frontier Days.

The 117th year of the rodeo and we had a great day, even though we got rained on a couple of times.

I even got to meet Miss Rodeo Virginia, of all people!

Downtown Farmers Market.

Walked to the market today with Sarah and Cambria. It was my first one downtown and it was great. Got some beer brats and bacon ends and tortillas.

Was also pleased to have daughter spot me and run up to us to give me a hug while hanging out with her friends. Moments like that make it all worth it :-)

My evening entails a bit of reading. Nice and quiet!

This little dog uses his fence to his advantage for viewing.

Bandit Run 2013.

Briony and I watched the Smokey and the Bandit trilogy recently. So when this event was listed in the paper, I knew we had to at least make an appearance.

Edge Of Darkness.

I am finally getting around to watching the last couple of episodes. It is quite good, despite being a bit dated, circa 1985.
I recommend it to any Anglophiles out there.

Jubilee Days - 123 Years of Wyoming.

Cale came over early, so we could find a good place to park and watch the parade. It was a bit overcast to start, but the sun came out and warmed it up to nearly 80 by mid-day. The parade was pretty good, and then we walked to the carnival, which was small. Cale played a couple of games, then we rode the ferris wheel. After that, we walked a couple of streets over to the downtown area where there was food, and we went into a couple of shops that I'd never been in before, mostly because I forget they are there, or they are closed when I remember that they are there. I had wanted to get our family photo on a steer named Redneck. I had just missed him Thursday night when we went downtown. We dropped Cale back at the house, and ran some errands. We had just gotten into the first store when my friend Tia called and asked if we were still downtown. They had just gotten there, and Redneck had just come out of the alley. I texted Cale, but he didn't want to go back down (he was meeting friends there in a few hours), so we didn't go :(

We went on campus to get a geocache, so I could get my souvenir for Geocaching Get Outdoors Day.

Cale came over for dinner and we watched Shrek Forever After, which none of us had seen yet. When it was done, it had just started to pour, so Cale played some games until it slowed down enough for us to go out and get in the car.

PRCA Rodeo

Dr Branch had some extra tickets to the Jubilee Days Rodeo, so we took advantage. It started with little kid doing Mutton Bustin', which was absolutely adorable! All of the participants won a $2 bill. I enjoyed the bucking broncos the best, and there were three different groups of those, bareback, and two different kinds of saddles. The half time show was kids, aged 4-7, from the audience that chased a sheep and the winner, the one the pulled the ribbon off of his neck, won $100. It was cute. The last rides are always the bulls, and nobody stayed on 8 seconds, but it was still fun to watch.

Good-Bye Sweet Bearette.

Today we had to say good-bye to Bearette. It has been a sad and emotional week. At 14, you know your time is limited, but it doesn't make it any easier when the time actually comes. Many of her issues we had been managing quite well with medications, but some things were getting worse. This was a bad week for her, and though there may have been extreme things we could have tried to keep her with us a little longer, we would just have been masking her problem, not fixing her. It is the ultimate gift, to be able to end your loved one's suffering, and that is what we did today. She wasn't herself lately, and that is what made us know that we were doing the right thing. My co-workers were so wonderful to us. Even though we were short handed this week, they let me stay home for a few hours after lunch so we could spend that time together. Dr Branch was wonderful with Briony, explaining everything in a way that I was too emotional to do myself. We held her as she left this world and we spent a few quiet moments with her afterwards. Thankfully, these next few days we have quite a lot to keep us occupied, though our hearts and our home will never be the same.

These are some photos I had of us with Bearette. The ones with Cale are from our photoshoot last summer, when my friend Jason from Ward Photography came and took photos of all of us.

TV!

I got a TV from Best Buy's Deal of the Day. Now I can play video games on my computer with a big screen!

Freedom Has A Birthday

Aka We Let You Go Day (Briony's version).
We had a lovely day at the park, listening to music, getting free ice cream and people watching. Briony also got her photo taken with the Obamas, and signed up to volunteer with the local Democratic party. She also talked to an officer at the Laramie Police Department booth about entry requirements, and I have to call this week to set her up with a ride-along.

Laundry Night Lies.

Wifi now works? NO IT DOESN'T! Thankfully, the Manderin across the street does have fast wifi, and it reaches (just barely) across the street.

Hokie House

Walking to volleyball tonight, we passed this house with Hokie colours. Very cool.

(post has been in draft folder for a while due to technical difficulties - seems even more appropriate now that it is FOOTBALL season!)
