Family Thanksgiving.

I was up early this morning to petsit so that I could put the turkey in the oven by 9am. What is the best thing about a turkey recipe that calls for 2/3 of a bottle of champagne and another recipe that calls for orange juice? Well, mimosas with the left overs of course!

My fridge hasn't been this full in a long time! Everything is all made up and ready to pop in the oven.

Cale rode his bike over over after he went Black Friday shopping in Cheyenne with his girlfriend. It's a beautiful day, nearly 50 degrees and sunny. Lunch was still cooking, so Briony and Cale worked on a gingerbread house. It's a bit minimalist.

Lunch consisted of turkey, stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, macaroni and cheese, watergate salad, homemade biscuits, mashed potatoes, yorkshire pudding and bisto gravy.

 After lunch, we decorated ornaments.

We tried to take family photos in front of the tree, but it was so bright outside, that they didn't come out very well.

Thanksgiving With Friends

Today Briony and I spent the afternoon and evening at our friend's house. Tia and Baend were kind enough to invite those who were not able to celebrate Thanksgiving with their own families, to celebrate with them.

We had a fun game of Phase 10, which was a bit of a struggle the first round, but then I really liked it! I was pretty good at it as well, which always makes it more fun too. I made it to Phase 5 (I think) before we had to break for the meal.

Everyone brought something, and it was all delicious! There was ham and turkey, pineapples, corn bread, stuffing, broccoli salad, roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes and gravy and cranberry sauce. And wine.

Briony and I went with Tia to do evening kennels, which made it a quick trip, and then it was back to theirs for more games and conversation. I had my own petsitting to do, so we did that on the way home.

I finished prepping for our Friday Thanksgiving with Cale, and made an early night of it.

Crazy Fancy Gym Equipment

I worked out with friends today at their gym. Crazy fancy, I tell ya!

The elliptical machine had television, radio and other features I couldn't even figure out. It also measured your stride, and you could change your stride. I got up to a 29 inch stride at one point, which was not easy, I mostly maintained at a 13. It was a very cool machine. I did 25 minutes and about a mile and a half. If I'd taken longer steps, I imagine I would have gone farther...

The bike was harder. It has bike handles, and you have to steer around a course while riding. The incline changes, and you have to change gears to do hills or to catch up on a downhill slope. I think I would have gotten the hang of it over time. I did a two mile loop, and it was time to call it a night.

Dr Who 50th Anniversary!

I was suppose to go with my friend, but since he was unable to go, I took a chance and asked Cale at the last minute. He was available, much to my delight, and wanted to go. Brilliant. Even better, I qualified for a free soda and popcorn with my Regal card. Double brilliant!

It was jam packed! Two shows sold out, one 2D, one 3D (we saw the 2D version). We got there early (for a regular movie), but were left with only the very front row with two seats together. It was HUGE, and sometimes I had to turn my head to see it all, but it was perfect and worth it.

I just dropped Cale off and what am I doing now? WATCHING THE DAY OF THE DOCTOR!

There are so many great quotes and one liners that I want to hear them all again. Again and again. I'm a nerd, and I'm okay with that. I was not, however, one of the many movie goers dressed as the Doctor, a companion, or, for some reason, a red Dalek.

Also, if you've gotten this far, I have to say that I have the best son ever. When I said to him, before the movie started, that I was pleasantly surprised that he wanted to come, because when I had mentioned it last week at Family Dinner, he didn't seem too interested, he says, "I didn't want you to have to go alone." Best. Son. Ever.

Fan Girl Problem #1

I just downloaded a copy of The Day of the Doctor. Do I watch it? I've got tickets to see it on Monday in the theatre, and I'll still love on the big screen, even if it's not the first time... Oh dear, what a dilemna!

It's Cold!

It's so cold, that I don't think the snow is ever going to melt. I did a pretty amazing 360 and 180 back to back on the road near my work. Thankfully, there were no other cars on the road, or it could have been bad. The temperatures were below zero overnight, with windchill of -14. Brrr. But actually, with no wind, it was warmer than some 40 degree days I've experienced here.

DQ At Last.

After a long day, Briony and I made a late night trip to Walmart for ingredients for Watergate Salad. As a reward for making that for Briony, I got a Blizzard. It's the first one I've had since I left Virginia, and the Pumpkin Pie was still available. Yay.

50+ MPH Gusts.

I went to Cheyenne for the day for a little shopping. It's was a little windy. On the way home, the gas pedal was all the way down and I was only going 60mph. It was like Nebraska on February 2nd, all over again.

The Snow Is A Coming

From the front desk of my job, you can see the snow coming in over the Snowies. It's an amazing sight.

Sunset Beauty.

My place of employment might not be in the prettiest part of town, but the view from the front windows is pretty spectacular.

Wyoming Cowboys Football.

Today there was a craft fair hosted by Beta Sigma Phi, and it was so much better than the Ladies Expo a few weeks ago. I went looking for possible gifts, and I found a couple of gifts for me! I got two small pieces of pottery for my jewelry, a ring holder and a matching dish to put my earrings in. And then I broke down and got a new ring, the one on top of the ring holder. It's sterling silver and genuine amethyst, and just lovely!

To make my sports weekend complete, I went to the Cowboys game with Mike. It was a start time of 8:15, and wasn't as cold as we thought it would be... until the second half, when we could see our breath. When it became clear that we weren't going to win without a miracle, we left early and went for dessert. It's too bad we didn't win, but the good news is that UVA lost and VT won today, so all is right with the world on some fronts. Also, I learned a lot about the plays and fouls and football makes a lot more sense to me now. The 100 member band was great, with a tribute to the military, a UW voice choir and 6th and 7th grade choir from the middle school performing during the half time show. I am a sucker for school bands, to this day it brings back some really good memories.
